Tiffany & Co. is seeking a Sr. Accountant- Capital Projects & Fixed Assets to be based in our Parsippany NJ offices. The Senior Accountant role will be responsible for managing the fixed assets (perform all daily, monthly and quarterly accounting functions inclusive of creating CER (project) numbers, coding of assets, monthly depreciation, cap labor and IT usage fee billings, accelerations, reconciliations, roll-forwards, tax related fixed asset entries), accounting for property, plant and equipment, capitalized costs, project tracking and ad hoc analysis. This includes performance or oversight of the financial close processes, collaboration with key stakeholders across North America business functions, and the identification and implementation of process improvements. This position also supports the Company’s annual financial statement audit requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley compliance procedures. The Senior Accountant will conduct meetings with Real Estate and Finance groups to ensure Retail Store project status and asset treatments align; and will work with various Global Groups and FP&A to assign project numbers for global project and complete the annual Capital Plan.
The Sr. Accountant- Capital Projects & Fixed Assets will drive efficient and effective financial close processes in assigned areas through performance of journal entries, account reconciliations, and analysis of financial results, partnering with North America business units as necessary including the following: administer Capital Expense policy and generate/analyze reporting regarding project accounting and capital expenditures, responsible for proper fixed asset accounting, including depreciation methods as well as supporting impairment and acceleration analyses and participate in monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes and support external audits by completing assigned analysis and functions, as assigned by department management. This position will provide oversight and direction to staff accountants, including review of staff work product. Support team member development by providing coaching, communicating feedback sharing knowledge, and providing recommendations on best practices to support the achievement of business objectives. S/he will drive continuous improvement of efficiency and effectiveness by identifying, developing and implementing enhancements to processes and systems improvement opportunities, solutions, monitoring accounting procedures and proposing automation opportunities. The Sr. Accountant will assist management with special assignments, as requested, including research and analysis related to the accounting treatment of proposed transactions as well as support internal and external audit requests and inquiries by coordinating the completion and/or review of assigned audit support and identifying regulatory and operational changes to accounting policies and procedures.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
4-6 years of relevant work experience
Must be fluent in Excel and should have strong PC skills
Must be willing to work flexible hours during monthly and year-end closings, as well as for special assignments when requested
Previous Big 4 experience
Previous supervisory experience
Knowledge of JD Edwards and Hyperion financial systems
